Hi! I'm Tyler Harnaraine, a recent graduate of the Business Technology Management Toronto Metropolitan University, pursuing a career in Information Technology.

My journey in tech began with building custom PCs and has since expanded to include roles such as IT Coordinator, IT Experience Consultant, System Engineer, and most recenlty System Administrator. These experiences have deepened my understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and the pivotal role of technology in business.

Personal Projects

Vmware ESXi / AD DS Implementation

Implemented VMware ESXi to create a virtual server environment, configuring a domain on Windows Server 2019. Successfully joined additional virtual machines to the domain and managed them through GPOs, demonstrating proficiency client managment.

Linux Home Server

Set up a home server with Ubuntu, adding a secure network drive and OpenVPN for safe remote access. Used Firewall (UFW) and SSH keys to keep data safe, showing skills in keeping servers secure and easy to use.

IDS Configuration (Snort)

Configured Snort as an intrusion detection system (IDS) to monitor network traffic for malicious activities.This project involved setting up Snort rules, defining network segments to monitor, and analyzing alerts to detect and respond to potential threats effectively.

VLAN Configuration

Set up and configured VLANs in my home lab using a TP-LINK managed switch, focusing on segregating network traffic, enabling inter-VLAN routing, and enhancing security with access control lists (ACLs). This project showcased my skills in designing and managing a secure, efficient network infrastructure.

Azure VNet Management

Implemented Virtual Networks in Azure lab environment, involving VNet creation, subnetting, and network secuirty groups (NSGs) for access control, showcasing my ability to manage and created secure, scalable, cloud networks in Microsoft Azure.

Vulnerability Exploitation

Explored vulnerabilities on Metasploitable, including FTP anonymous access, weak SSH credentials, misconfigured Samba shares, and unpatched web apps. Used exploits to gain unauthorized access and demonstrate security impact, enhancing my skills in identifying security weaknesses.
